Idaho Mule Deer

||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Self-guided mule deer hunts on private ranches between Soda Springs and Pocatello.This area is known for producing some great bucks. You do not need to draw a tag to hunt this zone. There are not as many deer as we typically see on some of our properties in other states, but the quality is good. Hunters who hold out have an excellent chance of taking a four-point buck, and the bigger bucks in this area can be real trophies. There is a limit on the number of deer tags available to non-residents, so you should plan to book your hunt and buy your tag no later than early summer.
The rifle season is in October and the bow season is in September, when archery elk season also is open. The terrain varies from a few cropfields, rising quickly to sage knobs and aspen draws. There are conifers in area and lots of excellent deer feed, including bitterbrush, sagebrush, aspen, chokecherry, and bigtooth maple.

This is strictly a self-guided hunt. You'll be supplied with a key or combination to the gate, a photocopied topo map and a trespass permit. Â You're on your own after that. We do not have an outfitter's license and do not offer any in-the-field services. Discounts are avilable to groups of four or more hunters. You may camp on the property or stay in little cabins that are rented out on a nearby ranch.
