Utah Elk Hunts

We offer guided and semiguided hunts on private leases. Our least expensive hunt is semiguided, meaning that we provide a guide for a group of four to six hunters. You'll be the only hunters on a 5,000-acre ranch in northern Utah. This is a good bet if you just want to shoot a bull and are not too concerned with trophy size. Though we have seen some big 6x6s on this property, most bulls are raghorns, 5x5s and first-year six-points. The ranch borders public property on two sides, so we can't manage for high trophy quality. But it's a fun hunt that is usually highly productive with almost everybody getting action. Last year we had a hunter go home empty after missing multiple shots at three bulls, so practice shooting at various ranges in hunting conditions. Elk on this property seldom stay in a meadow once they see or hear you. Our trophy hunt takes place on a 30,000-acre northern Utah ranch that produces 260 to 320 bulls for almost everybody and occasionally yields a bigger bull. You have an excellent chance of taking a six-point bull, and you don't usually have to consider shooting a raghorn to fill your tag. This hunt includes cabin/ranch house accommodations and ranch-style meals. We can usually pick you up in Salt Lake City, and the license is available over the counter. Expect to pay $6,000 to $7,500 in 2009. We can take one hunter per year on one of the best elk ranches in the nation. This hunt offers a good chance to take a 370 to 400-class animal that is eligible for Boone and Crockett because there are no high fences. You can hunt with a rifle during the rut season, which lasts roughly from Sept. 10 until Oct. 10. This hunt includes cabin quarters and meals. On this hunt you have a realistic chance of taking a 350 or better bull. Usually you'll see and hear a lot of bulls every day. The quality of hunting is probably similar to what the first settlers found when they first came to Utah with abundant animals, high bull-to-cow ratios and outstanding trophy quality. The price is negotiable but will be in the $20,000 to $25,000 range. One of our best values is a fully guided trophy hunt in one of Utah's top trophy elk units. You'll have to draw a tag in the annual computer lottery to take this hunt, but there are a handful of tags available every year at public auction. Airport pickup and dropoff in Salt Lake City, tent quarters and camp meals, a master guide and an associate guide are included for six days at only $5,000. This hunt offers an outstanding opportunity to take a once-in-alifetime animal.
